Access Inc. partners with adults with disabilities to help them achieve their goals in areas that are important to us all.
The specific role we play in that is one of training. We help to build skill and confidence through a range of courses which are grouped into three main areas – Access Hospitality, Access Life Learning and Access Health and Leisure.
All of our courses are intended to complement the other pursuits that participants are undertaking in their lives and although we offer courses every day, no one comes to Access full-time.
We also place great value on group-based learning and all of our courses are designed in-house with a commitment to theoretical learning as well as real world applicability.
We are unique because we are the only provider of such services that operates within a Jewish cultural context and we also focus on community engagement as we work towards demystifying disability in the community.
OUR HOSPITALITY ENTERPRISES:
We have a number of community-facing hospitality enterprises which serve as the on-the-job experience component of our programs.
– Access Espresso (coffee cart)
– Access Bakery
– Pop Up Cafe
These initiatives offer the community an opportunity to enjoy high-quality, delicious Kosher products and gain a better understanding of disability and the value of employing people with disabilities.
For participants, these initiatives provide the opportunity to build skill, confidence and networks in the pursuit of employment and other goals.
