Deema El-Rahmi – 21-year old Deema is a Muslim from Shefa-Amr in Northern Israel who plays professional football for “Maccabi Hadera” and also coaches a team of young girls from her hometown. Deema joined the Peres Centre’s ‘Sport in the Service of Peace’ programs as a coach, promoting coexistence between Jewish and Arab children from the communities of Tamra and Gan Shmuel. Deema is also currently studying at university, working towards a B.A in Business Management and hopes that working as a coach and a role model with young girls will inspire them to pursue their dreams to be football players. She strongly believes in the power of football to connect between different cultures.
Hadas Prawer – Hadas works as a coach for a local girls team in Jerusalem for the Peres Centre where she leads group of 20 Jewish girls in joint activities with Arab girls from the nearby city of Abu Ghosh. After completing her degree in the USA, Hadas returned to the Peres Centre as a Project Manager for the ‘Sport in the Service of Peace’ program. For the past two years, she has led the program which has brought together more than 1,000 Jewish and Arab Israelis and Palestinians, from more than 40 communities across Israel and the West Bank. Hadas is also a professional football player for “Hapoel Tel Aviv” football club.
