Judaism is not a science of nature but a science of what humanity ought to do with nature. It is concerned above all with the problem of living.
– Abraham Joshua Heschel

Explore what Jewish tradition says about how we live on this earth, whilst thinking about how we might live our values.

This course is going to be more conceptual than practical for the most part, looking for the texts, traditions and sources in our tradition that can help us explore our relationship to the environment.

We’re not going to teach you how to keep kosher, plant a tree or what you should buy. Rather, we will facilitate conversations around ethical framework, a set of tools for thinking that can help you find the applications yourself.
