This Tisha B’Av, Chabad Malvern is honoured and privileged to be hearing from Holocaust Survivor Dr Henry Ekert AM. 6:45pm Maariv and Megillat Eicha, 7:15 Program.
At just four years old, Henry’s life was upended when the Germans invaded his hometown and forced his family into the Przemysl Ghetto.
Henry will share his remarkable story of survival, which includes a harrowing six-week period hiding in a cupboard and the extraordinary kindness of those he considers his saviours.
Beyond his wartime experiences, Henry’s journey continued, as he became a distinguished children’s cancer and haematology specialist, and director of the division of medicine at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
He now dedicates part of his life to educating students and visitors at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum, sharing the crucial lessons of the Holocaust and the ongoing need to stand against hate.
