In 2019, the Victorian branch of the National Council of Jewish Women Australia [NCJWA (Vic)] launched its gender equity campaign, #MakeSpaceForHer. The campaign aimed to increase the representation of Jewish women within Jewish communal organisations in Victoria. In late 2020, researchers from Monash University, in partnership with the NCWJA (Vic), launched a survey with the aim of examining the reception of the #MakeSpaceForHer campaign, and building upon it by investigating the experiences of women staff and volunteers in Jewish institutions in Victoria, in addition to leaders and board members. The research team sought to discover whether Jewish communal organisations are reported to be safe, inclusive, and equitable workplaces.

About the event
This lecture presents the findings of community research conducted as part of the Kerryn Baker Memorial Endowment for Gender Research at the ACJC. The authors report on the survey’s findings and present our recommendations to help ensure that Jewish workplaces foster safe and inclusive environments.
