Description
The Women’s International Zionist Organisation is a non-party, apolitical movement dedicated to the advancement of the status of women, children and the welfare for all sectors of Israeli society and encouragement of Jewish education in Israel and the Diaspora.
WIZO is recognised by the United Nations as a Non-Government Organisation, with consultative status on ECOSOC and UNICEF.
WIZO enriches the lives of children and youngsters in Day Care Centres and schools, provides a framework for youth in its network of youth clubs and one-on-one assistance for teenage girls in distress and victims of domestic violence. who obtain psychological counselling, rehabilitative care and legal assistance.
WIZO has numerous groups that cater to different ages and backgrounds, from kids, to teens, young women under 36, Hebrew speaking, South African, and between the ages of 40-55, 55-70, 70 -85 and 85+. Groups host events such as movie nights, speakers, cooking demos, outings supporting the local community and the Israel community.
WIZO is extremely proud of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah Twinning Program, however, WIZO cannot provide this valuable service without the generous support of the Jewish community in the Diaspora. We would be delighted if you were able to share the happiness of your Simcha by allowing another Bar or Bat Mitzvah child and their family in Israel the chance to have a meaningful and beautiful Bar or Bat Mitzvah ceremony. The program costs $180 which enables you to Twin a boy/girl giving them the opportunity to celebrate their Bar/Bat Mitzvah in Israel under WIZO care. This will give each boy/girl and their family a ceremony, a trip to the Kotel and a Tallit/candlestick on your behalf.
