Community Information & Support Victoria (CISVic) is the peak body representing local community information and support services.
Their local services assist people experiencing personal and financial difficulties by providing information, referral and support services including Emergency Relief.
CISVic direct people who need help to local centres for services.
They liaise with local, state and federal governments on behalf of local centres for funding and support.
Assistance may include:
– e-vouchers (for either Woolsworths or Coles) sent via email or EFT transfer or Coles or Aldi voucher sent via the post
after a phone assessment, food vouchers and food parcels collected by appointment only
– pharmaceutical scripts
– Telstra vouchers (to assist in paying Telstra accounts)
CIS Glen Eira is our local branch in Glenhuntly delivering the following services:
– Information & referral
– CIS Glen Eira provides a free information and referral service on topics such as housing, health, personal issues, families, education and much more. Referrals are made to appropriate government or community services and other not-for-profit organisations.
Emergency relief for those in crisis
Food, food vouchers and other assistance provided to local residents experiencing financial hardship. Trained staff, many of whom are volunteers, handle such matters confidentially, in a caring and compassionate manner.
No Interest Loans Scheme (NILS)
NILS provides interest free loans for individuals or families living on low incomes. It’s a community-based program that enables people to access fair, safe and equitable credit for the purchase of goods and services. CIS Glen Eira participates in this scheme by assisting with applications.
Tax Help
During the tax season, we offer assistance with the completion of tax returns for those on low incomes. The free service is provided by volunteers who are trained and accredited annually by the Australian Taxation Office.
