Description
Jewish Care believes that it is a basic human right for every person to have a safe, affordable and secure place to call home. Jewish Care’s Tenancy and Property team advocate for people in need of accommodation in the Victorian Jewish community and can assist individuals and families experiencing housing difficulties to identify and access affordable accommodation alternatives.
We can provide:
• Timely information and advice about housing options from within the private, community and public housing markets
• Access to available emergency housing and short-term and/or permanent accommodation for adults, families and seniors from within Jewish Care housing stock or through a partner agency
• Access to shared living units for people with a disability who can live independently
• Assistance with the lodging of documents and liaison with government departments and housing organisation
• Facilitation or referrals to other program areas
For those with complex needs, housing alone is often insufficient. Access and referral to other programs including the social work team the Financial Support Services, The Employment Centre and In-home Services also occur as needed.
Our Housing Support service is free, while rent fees are calculated on a social housing model.
