Arnold Sable is an acclaimed writer, novelist, and storyteller, and the recipient of the 2021 Australia Council Award for Lifetime Achievement in Literature. He has a special interest in Yiddish language and culture and is a renowned advocate for refugees and for a harmonious multicultural Australia. His awards include the 2004 National Folk Recording Award for The Fig Tree CD, the 2013 Voltaire Prize for Freedom of Expression, the 2017 Australia Council Fellowship for Literature.
