In this inspiring interview, we meet a remarkable individual, Sarah Bendetsky, who has overcome incredible odds to make a positive impact on the world around her. At just 15 years old, she left her home in Moscow and moved to New York City on her own before eventually settling in Melbourne, Australia.
As an author, she has written captivating short stories about Jewish experiences, comedy, and children’s books that explore themes of immigration and charity. But her dedication to helping others doesn’t stop there.
Through her volunteer work, she has been involved in Jewish outreach, disability support, aged care, and food security services. Her tireless efforts have also included helping Ukrainian immigrants come to Australia, working with immigration lawyers, raising funds for visas, housing, and employment opportunities.
Not content with just making a difference in people’s lives, she founded Souper Kitchen, which provides food security services to those in need. And, as if that wasn’t enough, she also started Souper Bistro, a social enterprise cafe that supports the local community in countless ways.
