In an engaging interview, Michelle Dubrowin sits down with Tamar Paluch, a grassroots activist and mobilizer who has experienced life in three countries and four cities over the past 13 years. Tamar’s journey has taken her through Tel Aviv, New York, Melbourne, and soon, Los Angeles. Throughout this time, she has navigated interesting times, raised children, and committed herself to various forms of community work.
Tamar began her professional career as an occupational therapist but later transitioned into communications development. Despite her diverse career path, her dedication to Jewish community activism has remained steadfast. October 7th ignited a fire in Tamar to use her voice and spark community and global attention by coordinating vigils and rallies, uplifting women in particular through an International Women’s Day social media campaign and creating effective communication with external bodies like the Red Cross. Tamar’s latest endeavor is a collaborative initiative with J-United and the Lamm Jewish Library, focusing on women-led activism and the anthology project. Through this work, she aims to inspire others to engage actively with their heritage and contribute to the vibrant tapestry of Jewish life.
Tamar emphasizes the importance of recognizing that we are not merely reading about Jewish history; we are living it. She urges people to act and raise their voices, likening the experience to a “choose your own adventure” book. For Tamar, the Jewish community embodies giving, togetherness, power, and pride.
