Following our interview with Jodi Samuels which can be seen in our video section she has put together a cheat sheet for everyone with links to websites that are pertinent to getting assistance.
MyAgedCare for an assessment
Allied Health referrals to community health centers fall under MyAgedCare. Examples are occupational therapy home safety assessment, physiotherapy gait aid assessment etc.
Council Services – ask for a RAS – Regional Assessment Service – assessment for Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) funding which is 1st port of call. Examples of council services are:
- Domestic assistance
- Escorted shopping
- Shopping assistance
- Meal preparation
- Delivered meals
- Personal care assistance
- Volunteer transport
- Home maintenance eg changing smoke alarm batteries, light bulbs and annual gutter cleaning
- Home modifications – installation of rails prescribed by occupational therapist
- In-home respite
If you have higher care needs and need approval for Residential Respite, Permanent Care and/or a Home Care Package (HCP) and services, then ask for a Comprehensive assessment (ACAS- Aged Care Assessment Service)
Need to say:
* Care needs have increased.
* Carer support is unsustainable.
