In the week of International Women’s Day, Maccabi Victoria had the great privilege of launching ‘SHE RUNS THE GAME’; an online campaign celebrating the achievements of talented and trailblazing women in the Maccabi community.
Through an interview process, Maccabi Victoria was able to uncover their remarkable achievements and inspiring journeys and shine a light on some seriously deserving unsung heroes. It was truly an extraordinary experience, and one that we feel honoured to have been a part of.
From record-breaking athletes to visionary coaches and dedicated volunteers, these women have left an indelible mark on our sporing community. One such woman is Samantha Blackstone, a coach and mum at the Maccabi Ajax Netball Club. She is passionate about promoting gender equality and worked on the ‘Change Our Game’ Program, which looked at the reasons why girls drop out of sport and how to overcome them. It is thanks to women like Samantha that we have spaces to develop and support the endeavours of hundreds of girls within our community.
Another remarkable hero featured in the campaign was Amanda Caplan, the team manager of Ajax Football Club’s Jackettes female team. Amanda has devoted her life to the Maccabi footy community and her unwavering dedication to the club is palpable as she describes it: “Being a part of this team is difficult to express in words. It is a unique experience that cannot be compared to any other team, at any level, age group, or sport. And, having four children who have participated in various sports, I can say that I have witnessed my fair share of teams.” Her words encapsulate the profound and emotional impact that Maccabi has on so many individuals and families.
The response we received from our social media community has been truly heart-warming. The outpouring of support, encouragement, and celebration for these exceptional women was abundant and profound. You could feel that this was a story worthy of being championed.
‘She Runs The Game’ is a powerful testament to the remarkable achievements of the #MaccabiProudWomen who have dedicated their 4me, energy, and talent to the community. It celebrates the diversity, strength, and resilience of women, highlighting the significant impact women play in shaping our communties and our world – especially, as wonderful role models to young girls looking to get involved in sports. But it doesn’t stop there… their tales of perseverance and determination are a testament to the power of sport and an inspiration to women everywhere to strive for greatness. We commit to amplifying their voices and sharing their stories, as well as supporting and empowering more women to take on leadership roles in sports and beyond.
Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable world.
