C Care - The Buddy Initiative | Mental Health

This program was born out of the growing need to connect the most isolated and vulnerable members of our community at the height of the pandemic. Post pandemic there is a decrease in social isolation but loneliness remains an ongoing dilemma in our community.

As a result of Covid, there has been an increase in the extent of loneliness and anxiety in the community, particularly for those who have little support from family and friends. The need for strong connections is more important now more than ever before.

Our volunteers commit to calling a recipient each week and devoting an appropriate amount of time to them by listening and holding out the hand of friendship. The intention is that this is an ongoing relationship for as long as needed.

The aim is that no person in our community feels alone and knows there is always someone there for them should they need it.
