Michelle Dubrowin sat down with Zoe Finger, a dedicated Chinese Medicine Practitioner whose journey into the world of holistic health is as intriguing as her practice. Zoe’s path to Chinese medicine wasn’t a straight one—she initially embarked on a Biomedical Science degree, but something didn’t feel quite right. After deferring in the second semester, Zoe decided not to return. Instead, she shifted her focus to Naturopathy, a field that seemed to align more closely with her growing passion for natural healing. However, after just one trimester, Zoe found herself drawn to Chinese Medicine, where she discovered a deeper connection to the principles and practices that now define her career.
Zoe’s relationship with Chinese medicine began long before her professional training. Since the age of 13, she has been receiving Chinese medicine and acupuncture treatments almost fortnightly at the same clinic where she now sees her own patients. This personal experience with the healing power of Chinese medicine deeply influenced her decision to pursue it as a career.
Her early years also shaped her understanding of the importance of community. Zoe spent the first six years of her life in a small Jewish community in the Philippines, consisting of around 40 people. Moving to Melbourne introduced her to a much larger and more diverse community, but it also highlighted the profound impact that a close-knit, supportive community can have. This understanding of community’s power continues to influence her approach to patient care, as she strives to create a supportive environment for those she treats.
