Description
Eating Disorders Families Australia is the national organisation providing support, education and advocacy services for carers and families impacted by an eating disorder.
Our mission is to enable families and carers to be more effective supports and recognised as an integral part of the recovery process for a loved one with an eating disorder.
Parents and carers can experience loss of jobs, friends and social connections, as well as financial strain. There is no respite as the care can often be a 24×7 effort in the home, for many years.
Parents and carers also experience the stress of keeping their loved one alive and being an informed and strong advocate. Many live with ongoing shame and stigma, isolation, fear and loneliness. EDFA provides support, counselling and education so that families can support their loved one through the recovery journey.
